A legacy of compassionate nursing education rooted in faith, excellence and service since 1995.
At Sacred Heart School of Nursing, we believe that to nurse is to answer a calling. Founded on faith and shaped by decades of selfless service, our school exists to form a new generation of nurses who bring both competence and compassion to the bedside — professionals who understand that true healing touches body, mind and spirit alike.
Our story began in 1985, when Dr. Sr. Laurence — a physician trained in Germany who felt called to serve the people of India — established Sacred Heart Hospital as a modest 50-bed facility in Maqsudan. Her vision flowed from the charism of the Sacred Heart Congregation, founded in Kerala in 1911, and was animated by the Gospel values of mercy, dignity and care for the suffering.
As the hospital grew into the trusted multi-specialty institution it is today, a deeper need became clear: to form nurses of the same calibre and Christ-like compassion who would carry this mission forward. From that conviction, Sacred Heart School of Nursing was founded in 1995. What began as a single act of faith has become a thriving centre of healing and learning — and the spirit in which it began continues to guide every step we take.
We are committed to nurturing nurses of excellence and integrity by providing strong academic foundations with rigorous clinical training, forming students in Christian values of compassion, service, honesty and respect for life, and preparing graduates to meet the highest standards of the nursing profession.
These three words shape everything we do — the way we teach, the way we nurse, and the way we treat every patient. We see in each person the call to love selflessly, to serve without distinction, and to work for the healing and saving of life.
As a faith-based institution under the trust of the Jyothi Province of the Sacred Heart Congregation, we hold that nursing is more than a profession — it is a vocation. Inspired by the sisters who have served the sick for generations, we form our students to see the face of every patient as worthy of love and dignity.
Within a Christian environment that emphasises moral values, discipline and genuine compassion, our students grow not only into capable nurses, but into responsible, well-rounded and principled individuals. We serve all people without distinction of caste, creed or background, in a spirit of selfless love.
What sets our school apart is the strength of our parent institution — Sacred Heart Hospital, Maqsudan, a NABH & NABL accredited, 195+ bed multi and super-specialty hospital. This vibrant, real-world setting offers our students what a classroom alone never can: bedside learning and intensive clinical training across diverse patient-care settings.

It is my heartfelt privilege to welcome you to Sacred Heart Hospital and Sacred Heart School of Nursing — two institutions united by a single mission of healing, service and love. Serving both as Administrator and as a member of the teaching faculty, I am blessed to witness our mission from two perspectives at once: the care we offer at the bedside, and the formation we nurture in the classroom.
For nearly four decades, Sacred Heart Hospital has grown from a humble 50-bed facility into a NABH and NABL accredited multi and super-specialty institution. Yet through all our growth, one conviction has remained unchanged: that medicine is at its finest when offered with compassion, and that every person who comes to us deserves to be treated with dignity and care.
To every student who joins us, I offer this promise: you will be challenged, supported and believed in. May the spirit of the Sacred Heart continue to guide all that we do — to love, to serve and to save.
