General Information Regarding Admission Process

  1. An entrance examination would be conducted for the eligible candidates on the date announced earlier. All the candidates are required to possess a pass certificates in the Plus Two Examination with a minimum of 45% or above marks in the aggregate.
  2. Oral interview and verification of original certificates will be done for those candidates who qualify in the entrance examination. Those who do not bring the original marks sheets of 10th & 12th class would not be allowed to appear for the interview.

Conditions for Selection of Students

  1. The age of the candidate must be in between 17 to 30 on the date of admission.
  2. The candidate must be an unmarried woman with a minimum height of 158 cm, and minimum weight of 39 Kg.
  3. Only those candidates who have passed the Plus Two Examination preferably with science subjects with 45% marks or above are eligible to appear for the entrance examination.
  4. A pass certificate in Punjabi Matriculation is necessary for the nursing training in Punjab.
  5. Pass the written test and oral interview.
  6. Selection is made on the basis of performance in interview, written test, academic record, health, aptitude and motivation for nursing.
  7. The Institution may keep few candidates in the waiting list.
  8. The decision of the selection committee regarding the selection or rejection of a candidate will be final.
  9. The students should be medically fit.
  10. The Roman Catholic applicant must enclose a letter from the parish priest, baptism certificate and catechism certificate.

The following documents are to be enclosed along with the filled application form.

  1. One copy of passport size photograph to be fixed on the application form.
  2. Attested copy of the Matriculation/10th class or equivalent certificate that shows Date of birth.
  3. Attested copies of the detailed mark sheet of 10th & 12th classes.
  4. S.C. / S.T / B.C certificate if applicable. Candidates belonging to SC/ST must produce certificate from the Deputy Commissioner/ D.C of the district to which the candidate belongs.
  5. Sponsorship letter
  6. Character certificate from the parish priest/principal of School or College.
  7. Any incomplete application would not be considered.
  8. The duly filled application form with all the relevant documents should be sent to “The Principal, by hand/ courier or sent by Registered/speed post Sacred Heart School of Nursing, G.T Road, Maqsudan, Ravidas Nagar P.O, Jalandhar City, Punjab, Pin-144008”.
  9. No alterations would be allowed once the application is submitted. The candidate should read the application form and prospectus carefully before they fill it.

Confirmation of Seats

The selected candidates would be required to pay the admission fee and First Semester fee on the date fixed, and failing to do so would result in the cancellation of her seat and that seat would be offered to candidates next on the waiting list in the order of merit.


The selected candidates must join their course on the date declared by the school authorities. The selection of those candidates who fail to join by the stipulated date shall automatically stand cancelled and no correspondence shall be entertained in this connection. The school of nursing takes no responsibility for intimating the cancellation of seats to the people concerned.

Medical Examination

Medical fitness will be a pre-condition for admission to General Nursing & Midwifery course of this Institute. The selected candidates are medically examined by the medical officer responsible for the staff and students health services of Sacred Heart Hospital. The admission would be completed only if the candidate is found medically fit.


Classes start on the date previously announced. Students must be regular in attending classes to facilitate their admission to be approved and confirmed by the PNRC Chandigarh. If a student is found to be remaining absent from the classes without permission from the principal of the School of Nursing, it will be considered that the student is not willing to continue her studies in the school of nursing and forfeit her admission.

Rejection & Disqualification

  1. Application forms duly filled in along with necessary enclosures not received on time.
  2. Incomplete application forms/wrongly filled.
  3. Certificate found to be inaccurate or false.
  4. Failing to take the entrance test.
  5. Failing to be present for scrutiny of original certificate on due date and time.
  6. Failing to submit the school & other fees by the due date.
  7. Failing to submit the residence (domicile) certificate on admission.
  8. Educational qualification and other requirement of the PNRC, Govt. INC and of the school of Nursing are not fulfilled.
  9. Any attempt by applicants or their friends/relatives to canvas for admission or to bring influence to dare upon the administrative/other staff members shall rendered the applicant disqualified.
  10. The discussion of the selection committee shall be final and no correspondence will be entertained regarding the rejection or disqualification of any applicant.


The students will not be given leave during the first 3 months. Leaves will be given only after P.T.S examination.

Annual leave : 30 days per year
Sick leave : 10 days per year

Note: Any prolonged time loss through sickness or otherwise must be made up for the completion of the course in the current year itself before council examination commences.
